Events in the Middle East seem to burst into public consciousness as violent conflagrations or tense military confrontations. It is often difficult to tease out the factors that influence the unrest and to contextualize them. In this course we will analyze aspects of the turmoil that have unfolded in the MENA (Middle East and North Africa) region since the "Arab Spring" uprisings of 2011.
